MEET YOUR THERAPIST

Marie provides a safe and non-judgmental space for people to realise the patterns of their own minds and work towards feeling more alive and connected.

“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”

— Carl Rogers

OUR VALUES

Integrity

At ThePresentPlace we are transparent and honest about our processes, clear about the services we provide (no false promises or hidden fees), and hold well-defined boundaries in the therapeutic relationship. We show our commitment to ethical practice by engaging in ongoing personal and professional development.

Collaboration

We believe that you are the expert on your own life and we want to work with you to create a unique and tailored therapeutic experience. There will be no set agenda – together, we design a treatment plan to suit your needs for therapy and in each session the relational encounter is co-created in the here and now.

Inclusivity

ThePresentPlace welcomes people with diverse backgrounds, bodies and beliefs. We are committed to continually improving our abilities to provide culturally-appropriate therapy, we value health-at-every-size (HAES) principles, and we encourage colourful orientations to gender and sexuality.

Empowerment

From the beginning of therapy, your choices and boundaries will always be respected! We move at a pace, and only explore content, that lets you feel safe. We also believe that knowledge is power, so we use psycho-education and share resources to empower informed action in your life. Resources are suggestions and not shoulds.

Compassion

To us, compassion is the heart-felt and embodied understanding that what you feel is real and valid. We are invested in your personal well-being as well as dedicated to caring for our community and larger world.

Confidentiality

We acknowledge that, unfortunately, stigma around mental health still exists. Being a rurally based practice we give special attention to ensuring your privacy. Together we discuss how you would like to navigate potentially inhabiting the same wider community as your therapist.
